About Simon image of Simon, a 65 year old white man with receding black hair annnd a kind smile

I combine over 25 years experience of meditation & mindfulness practice and teaching, with being an ethical business advisor. From 2018 my main work has been helping people manage stress and build wellbeing.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in the summer of 2020, after symptoms had been evident for some time.  I quickly started reading widely and identifying ways to manage the condition with the best possible outcomes.  After a few blind alleys I have set out on a naturopathic approach to optimising wellness, combined with other wellness activities. I'm feeling well.  A key component has been my approach to mental health, following the principle that a positive attitude promotes healing. Luckily my long experience in this area gave me a good basis for this.

I'm sharing my programme out of compassion for others, and also because having a purpose is helpful to one's mental health ; so it's win-win for you and me!

Approach and experience

Whilst my mindfulness/meditation training is entirely secular, my experience of meditation comes from a deep and on-going practice in the Buddhist contemplative tradition. This ancient wisdom is the foundation for effective mindfulness practice, where sound ethical values underpin the techniques and tools.

My journey back to health (an ongoing process) has been informed by some wonderful professionals, who I refer to in the programme, combined with extensive reading and research. I am not a naturopath, but I know a great deal now and have first hand experience of putting it into practice. What works for me may not be the same for you, but the principle of mind/body connection and a holistic approach to health runs through my suggestions.

I have formal qualifications in business support, coaching, and mindfulness teaching.  I have a Mental Health First Aid certificate, and adhere to the code of practice for mindfulness-based trainers. I was an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a director of several successful ethical companies, and have advised businesses, government agencies, third sector organisations and local authorities, as well as training and coaching over 500 people in stress management.
